"CELEBRITIES" IN 2017

Dozens of “celebrities” including actors, producers, directors, chefs, and even presidents, are being accused of sexual misconduct, sexual harassment, sexual contact, sexual assault and only NOW in 2017 is society listening.

WHY?

Why has it taken decades for people to listen, to believe these victims? Why is it that the “hirer” up someone’s job title is the harder it is for the truth to come out and to be believed?

I will tell you why… RAPE CULTURE!

We see all forms of sexual violence in the media and it is being displayed as something that is ok. Grabbing someone’s ass is NOT OK, forcing someone to touch you in order for them to get a promotion is NOT OK, and having sex with someone when they are intoxicated is NOT OK! All of this is sexual violence.

We see it on the television, in movies; hear about it in the music we listen to, the jokes that are made, and are witnesses to it on the streets and in our jobs.

Yet somehow we find these despicable acts ok as long as it is not happening to us. We let things slide, we don’t address it when we see it, we don’t speak up, and I turn we are contributing to rape culture.

When do we say “hey that’s not ok”?

When do we give a voice not only to ourselves but to others who may not be able to have a voice?

When do we put an end to rape culture?
