So I just watched a horrific video blog by a women who goes by the name, The Activist Mommy. If you want to see what rape culture looks like? This is it. A video that is straight up victim blaming.

Here is the link if you want to see the video. (Trigger Warning!) https://www.facebook.com/theactivistmommy/videos/1491494530968691/

  • People travel for work all the time. So it is NOT uncommon to have a meeting held in a hotel room.

  • Women should never be alone with a man, why not? That is saying if you are alone with a man you will be raped, which is false! Besides plenty of people are sexually assaulted and harassed when others are around.

  • One of the reasons victims don’t come forward is because the fear of not being believed. Most of the time they just don’t go to the police right after it happened and when they do, the police just can’t go and “find” them and arrest them. It does not work that easily.

  • By saying just “lose your job” is a lot easier said than done. A lot of people can’t just “lose their job.” And why should they, the perpetrators should be losing their job, they committed the crime.

  • And where does it say that all victims lose their sole and their principle? Where the hell does that statement come from?

  • Victims coming forward saying #metoo is their way of taking a stand, and it should be acknowledged.

  • Coming forward about being assaulted is not about fame, there is no fame in being a victim. No victim wants to be known as a victim.

  • Sadly when victims do come forward they are called slutty, just what this video did, this is RAPE shaming.

  • Most assaults do not involve a gun, so saying if a gun was not put to your head than it wasn’t rape and you are not a victim… is total crap.

  • And rolling your eyes any time a victims comes forward is just disgusting!

  • As a culture, people don’t give victims of sexual harassment and sexual assault the real attention and services they need, they shame them just like this video does.

  • Crying wolf… only 2-6% reports of sexual assaults are false the same as any other violent crime. If a person’s says someone’s was trying to stab them while being robbed, are you NOT going to believe them too?

  • If the term sexual assault means nothing to this women than the real problem is this women, which this video clearly shows.

  • Sexual assault and sexual harassment is NOT natural love. Furthermore natural love occurs between more than just women and men. This video is forgetting about the LGBTQ+ community. Their love is just as natural as the love between and women and a man.

  • Men and WOMEN are losing their jobs not because of a lie that is told, they are losing their jobs because they committed some form of sexual violence.

  • There is no “feeling good” about being a victim. It is not a band wagon to jump on. It is about being heard!

  • And finally throughout this whole video it is stated that all the victims are women and perpetrators are men, while yes that is the most common situation but by not acknowledging that men can be victims and women can be perpetrators you are saying it is not happening… and IT DOES!

Videos like this are so detrimental to victims as it is all about blaming the victims. This is the problem with society and the people that create these videos are no better than the perpetrators. They are giving the criminals an okay for their behavior. And by society not saying anything about this and by letting this crap be accepted we are allowing rape culture.

Let’s give victims a voice, let’s tell society that this is NOT okay.

It’s time for US to be heard!
